Equity Squads
Equity Squads is provided under sub-regulation (11) of Regulation 5 as follows:
(11) Every HEI shall also constitute a smaller body to be known as ‘Equity Squads’ with such representation as is considered necessary for maintaining vigil and preventing any discrimination on the campus. The HEI may constitute the Equity Squads in the required numbers, and such squads will remain mobile and visit the vulnerable spots frequently. The Equity Squads shall submit their reports to the Coordinator of the Equal Opportunity Centre.
Every institution must create smaller, mobile groups called “Equity Squads.” Their job is to maintain “vigil” and prevent discrimination before it happens. They are expected to be mobile and frequently visit “vulnerable spots” on campus, submitting their findings to the EOC Coordinator. Why this continuance surveillance is needed by the HEI? Because we are not at all educating our students to become united, by making such divisive policies in the name of positive discrimination, we are actually creating more enmity. The so-called positive discrimination model is misused by politicians for their political gains and failed to make social justice with actual socially, economically people. Such kind of vigilante groups will create more enmity between students. There is no mandatory provision that such squads are having representation from general category. This may cause intentional false reporting against the targeted students without any reason.
Equity Ambassadors
Equity Ambassadors is provided under sub-regulation (11) of Regulation 5 as follows:
(12) Every HEI shall designate at least one stakeholder in each of its units, departments, faculties, schools, hostels, libraries, or facilities to act as an ‘Equity Ambassador.’ The stakeholders designated as Equity Ambassadors shall act as torchbearers of equity on the campus and shall remain in touch with the Coordinator of the Equal Opportunity Centre. The Equity Ambassador shall act as a nodal officer for implementing the programme or activities planned by the Equal Opportunity Centre in their units and shall also report any equity violation without delay.
The institution must appoint “Equity Ambassadors” in every single department, hostel, library, and office. These individuals act as the main point of contact for equity issues in their specific area. They are responsible for implementing programs and must report any equity violations immediately. High level of policing without representation of general category will lead to high number false cases against general category. This burden on general category which is having their admission on the basis of merit, will cause huge academic loss and ultimately HEI will lose their reputations of good academics in society. No best HEI will be there in next few years and there will be no talent which appeared the exams and scored high ranks. No reputation with highly sensitive campus will lead to hostile place. Now HEI shall decide to implement these rules as they are mandatory or to fight against such rules to save academic reputation in society. Eventually no reputation will cause no admissions and no admissions will lead to shutting down of the HEI.
Bi-annual Reporting
Bi-annual Reporting is provided under sub-regulation (11) of Regulation 5 as follows:
(13) The Equal Opportunity Centre shall publish a bi-annual report of its activities by the end of January and July every year, and the report shall be made available on the website of the HEI. The report shall include demographic composition of students and staff, dropout rates of the students for the previous academic year, grievances/complaints received under these regulations, and their current status.
The centre must publish a public report twice a year (by the end of January and July) on the school’s website. This report must contain the demographic breakdown of students and staff, dropout rates from the previous year, and the current status of all discrimination complaints received. I will wonder if first report after enactment of these rules is not having any dropout due to any case under these regulations! HEI may get ready to lose their academic reputation as these rules do not provide for representation of general category and will be highly misused either intentionally or under influence and pressure of certain stakeholders and will lead to high rate bribe to settle these disputes between students. Biased regulations are always misused to harass other people.
