Section 36 of the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains (AMASR) Act, allows the Central Government to correct errors in the description of monuments or sites declared as nationally important. If there is a clerical mistake, obvious error, or accidental omission in the description e.g., name, location, or details, of an ancient monument or archaeological site declared as nationally important under the AMASR Act, the Central Government can correct it at any time by publishing a notice in the Official Gazette. This provision ensures the accuracy of records for nationally important monuments and sites by allowing the Central Government to correct errors, maintaining the integrity and clarity of heritage designations to support effective protection and management of Bharat’s cultural heritage.
