2.61 Power to correct mistakes, etc<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

2.61.1 Bare Act Provision:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

36. Power to correct mistakes, etc.\u2015Any clerical mistake, patent error or error arising from accidental slip or omission in the description of any ancient monument or archaeological site and remains declared to be of national importance by or under this Act may, at any time, be corrected by the Central Government by notification in the Official Gazette.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

2.61.2 Interpretation:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Section 36 of the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains (AMASR) Act, allows the Central Government to correct errors in the description of monuments<\/a> or sites declared as nationally important. If there is a clerical mistake, obvious error, or accidental omission in the description e.g., name, location, or details, of an ancient monument or archaeological site declared as nationally important under the AMASR Act, the Central Government can correct it at any time by publishing a notice in the Official Gazette. This provision ensures the accuracy of records for nationally important monuments and sites by allowing the Central Government to correct errors, maintaining the integrity and clarity of heritage designations to support effective protection and management of Bharat\u2019s cultural heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
